The World’s Smartest 20-Minute Workout

Listen on Apple. Listen on Spotify. Listen on Amazon.

SHOW NOTES

Brian and Amy discuss the cutting edge technology that powers the Exercise Coach and makes it possible to deliver the world’s smartest 20-minute workout. Learn the secret to maximizing fitness results in the shortest time possible and how the Exerbotics technology makes exercise more fun and effective, while being more efficient at the same time.

  • There are three things that make the workouts stand out at the Exercise Coach: the workouts are based on the best science, use the best technology, and are delivered by a network of professionals.
  • “The best science” refers to the current understanding of strength, based on research that has demonstrated strength and muscle mass are the primary biomarkers for aging. Losing strength and muscle mass due to aging leads to experiencing the diseases of aging and metabolic decline.
  • Science-based strength training can reverse decades of muscle loss in just a few short months. Focusing on exercises that build muscle contributes to a long, active, and healthy life.
  • Exerbotics is the cutting-edge technology that powers the signature program that Exercise Coach offers.
  • Exerbotics quantifies exercise and helps people understand the exercise that really matters. It also customizes exercise and adapts to any body, making it just right for every fitness level. It also optimizes results in the shortest amount of time and is really the foundation for the 20-minute workout.
  • When someone becomes an Exercise Coach client, their first step is an assessment of their  strength levels. This becomes the base for the exercise program and Exerbotics continues to measure and calibrate the effort they put out during exercise.
  • Measuring effort is what matters the most since the current science of strength shows that whole effort is what triggers the results we want to get from exercise.
  • Since the system adapts to the person, it becomes possible for anyone to do. With Exerbotics, the Exercise Coach can provide clients with extremely tailored exercise prescriptions. This ability-based approach makes the program challenging enough to get results, yet is something anybody can handle.
  • Maximizing results while minimizing the time required wouldn’t be possible without Exerbotics.
  • There are three possible modes of resistance training: isotonic, isometric, and accommodating resistance. Accommodating resistance is the opposite of isotonic resistance, Exerbotic software controls the speed of the movement so that the muscle loading can adjust in real time through the exercise.
  • An individual’s strength isn’t static and fluctuates throughout an exercise. It varies during a movement as the angles of your joints change. With conventional resistance we run into sticking points and the exercise needs to be tailored to the weakest point in the movement, which prevents the muscles from being fully engaged.
  • Accommodating resistance makes it easier to deeply fatigue muscles in a much shorter time.
  • Exerbotics delivers effective eccentric muscle loading as a part of every exercise that someone does. Strength varies during eccentric and concentric movements as well, which means that people can miss out on powerful muscle benefits when using conventional strength training.
  • Strength varies as muscles fatigue, and conventional resistance doesn’t accommodate this change and limits how efficiently we can deeply fatigue our muscles.
  • Exerbotics also makes exercise safer. The Exercise Coach has run millions of exercise sets with people who have run the gamut of physical fitness.
  • Exerbotics controls the load with real time feedback based on the exerciser. The digital biofeedback makes it easier to see what you need to do in terms of effort, and this makes it easier to dig deeper than you thought you could in order to work the muscle groups that you’re trying to work.
  • Real time feedback is a gamechanger for motivating effort and getting people results. When athletes are provided with digital feedback that quantifies their effort, it’s been shown to increase their motivation, competitiveness, mood, and performance.
  • The Exercise Coach uses the data from every workout to ensure that more work is progressively applied to each workout to keep up with the client’s increasing strength capabilities.
  • Coaches are another key component. Coaches help clients stay motivated and achieve more than they would otherwise. They also provide accountability and keep clients on track each day.
  • Coaches provide clients the confidence and encouragement they need to give it their all during a workout. They also bring a passion for education and dispelling myths about fitness that people may have believed for years.
  • There are five characteristics of a stand-out Exercise Coach. The first is commitment and experience using the Exerbotics equipment themselves for their own training. The second is empathy and the ability to anticipate the needs of a client. The third is energy, since coaches need to bring energy and positivity to the client’s training session. The fourth is professionalism and being respectful, kind, and taking their job seriously. The fifth is instructional skill and being able to deliver the best exercise experience for each client.

We know now that we have the power with effective science -based strength training to reverse decades worth of muscle loss in just a few short months.

Welcome to the Strength Changes Everything podcast. I’m Amy Hudson here with my co -host, Brian Saigon, CEO and co -founder of The Exercise Coach. And today we are talking about the way The Exercise Coach makes the world’s smartest 20 -minute workout work for anybody. Hey, Brian, how are you? I can’t wait to delve into this topic today.

I’m excited too. And before we talk about how we make the world’s smartest 20 -minute workouts work, I thought it’d be a good idea to maybe just talk briefly about why we think they’re the smartest 20 -minute workouts in the world.

Let’s do that. Absolutely.

So let’s delve right into that. Brian, in your opinion, what makes the exercise coach training the smartest 20 minute workout available on the planet?

At a high level, I think I’d say three things just in a nutshell. I would say that the workouts at the exercise coach are based on the best science. I’d say they’re powered by the best technology and they’re delivered by a network of professionals trying to be the best darn people. we can be.

Okay, so let’s unpack each of those components just a little bit. Let’s start with the science upon which our approach is based.

Sure.

The best science, when I say that, I’m really referring to the current science of strength. That’s what this podcast is largely about. And the science of strength is based on research that has demonstrated and muscle mass really ar biomarker or marker of h at Tufts University cert the case and he wrote a b and in that book he actua And research on sarcopenia over the last 15 or 20 years has really validated that strength and muscle mass really are one of our primary markers of healthy aging. And as people experience sarcopenia and lose strength and muscle mass as they age, they experience all the diseases of aging and a lack of fitness and metabolic decline as well. And we know now that we have the power with effective science -based strength training to reverse decades worth of muscle loss in just a few short months.

And we also can help people, even at elite fitness levels, go to the next level with more efficiency than they ever knew was possible. So this is what applying the current science of strength is all about.

Wow, that is awesome. And those are compelling reasons to focus on exercise that builds muscle for a long, active, healthy life. So the next element of the smartest 20 -minute workout you mentioned was that the exercise coach workout is powered by the best technology. So we’ve told listeners before that the exercise coach workout is powered by an exclusive technology called xRobotics. And Brian, could you tell our listeners exactly what the xRobotics technology is?

Of course. extra bott driven strength training use in a health and fitne And it powers the signature programs offered at the exercise coach.

Oh, thank you.

That’s perfect. So I think that probably helped our listeners. So now I want you to explain to us what is so special about the xRobotics technology and what makes it the best technology out there to deliver optimal exercise results?

Sure.

And this will make up really a lot of our time today. And so just to help people get their bearings in terms of where we’re headed, when I talk about what I think makes exerbotics really the best technology, there’s three features of exerbotics generally that I’ll talk about. And first of all, I’ll talk about how exerbotics quantifies exercise. And what I mean by that is it just really measures what actually matters. We’ve got hundreds of locations around the world, a network of practitioners using exerbotics. And so data from millions of exercise sets that we’ve gathered, and that just makes the system smarter every single day.

And it’s also this quantification is the reason that universities around the world use exerbotics in the lab doing human performance research, but it measures what matters.

And.

The second feature is the way that exerbotics customizes exercise for anyone. And the summary statement there really would be that exerbotics adapts to any body. It customizes the work that we do with the exercise coach to make it just right for anyone regardless of their current fitness level. or any conditions that they have. And third, exerbotics optimizes exercise. And when we talk about exercise optimization, we’re talking about simultaneously maximizing safety and results while minimizing the time it takes to get those results.

And so at the exercise coach, this means that our programs powered by Exerbotics can help people get the health, fitness and longevity results that they want from just a couple 20 minute workouts per week at most.

Wow.

So I can see how a listener might hear you say that and it could sound too good to be true, but it isn’t. So Brian, could you spend a little bit more time explaining then in more detail how Exerbotics measures what matters adapts to any body and maximizes safety and effectiveness and efficiency?

You bet.

Let’s do that. So this is really all about the methodology that we use with exerbotics equipment that measures individual strength levels. So we measure the personal strength levels of each individual in every muscle group of the body through a science -based assessment. So that’s number one in terms of quantifying, we measure strength levels. Number two is exerbotics precisely measures skeletal muscle loading during every rep of every exercise set of every workout. And then third, exerbotics quantifies effort levels during exercise.

So effort levels. really are a function of the skeletal muscle loading that we’re precisely measuring compared to personal strength levels that we quantify when somebody starts at the exercise coach. And this is really what matters most, measuring effort in this way. And the reason it matters most is because intensity of effort, or what we call the exercise coach whole effort, is what the current science of strength actually proves triggers the results that we want from exercise.

Now, Brian, that sounds like X -Robotics makes exercise hard. Can anybody really do it?

Yes. Yes. I see what you’re saying. In some ways above everything else, this might be one of the more revolutionary differences that X -Robotics makes. It has to do with how X -Robotics adapts to anybody or customizes strength training.

Great.

So let’s move into the next point then on customization. How does exerbotics help us to adapt to anybody?

Exerbotics generates personalized exercise prescriptions based on a couple things, that assessment that I talked about, that strength measurement and information we have about each individual, but then also on our understanding of some immutable principles of muscular biomechanics.

So that sounds a little complicated, Brian.

This is actually the part where it can be pretty straightforward. With Excerbotics, we capture, as I said, baseline strength levels for each individual. And then using this information, plus what we know about how the body works and the data that we’ve gathered, really over millions of exercise sets, we provide our clients with precisely tailored strength training prescriptions. So this way, for example, the very first set that someone performs at the exercise coach, they are performing ability based strength training. The idea is that we provide people with effort targets based on their current abilities and what we know is actually needed to stimulate results.

And this ability -based approach is really what makes this just right for just about anybody. So it makes exercise coach challenging enough to get results, yet something anybody can handle.

That’s right. We measure each individual’s strength levels, provide a program tailored by science and data so that it’s customized for literally any fitness capacity, condition, or even comfort level with what matters most for results, exertion.

Okay, so we measure what matters. We make sure the workout is dialed in to the ability of the client. So then how would we describe what xRobotics does to optimize the workout?

Let’s go there next. So just again, just to review quickly what we mean by optimize, when we use the word optimize, we’re talking about simultaneously maximizing safety and results while minimizing the time it takes to get results. And this is really where coaches and clients at the exercise coach get to operate on what might be called the simplicity on the far side of complexity, meaning there’s a lot of science being done by the time we get to how exerbotics optimizes strength training. But there’s a lot more science actually involved in the optimization. Yes, it’s done in a way that makes for a pretty elegant experience for our coaches and clients. I think, wouldn’t you say Amy?

Absolutely. And in fact, before we dive further into this scientific optimization for personal training that xRobotics does, can I share actually what some clients have had to say about this technology?

By all means, please.

All right, so here are some responses to the question, what do you love about the exercise coach? Carlisa from Houston says, I loved the technology advanced equipment. This is truly the future of exercising with a purpose. The studio was clean and peaceful. The equipment made me feel like I could accomplish my goals. I felt accomplished when I left the gym for the first time in a long time.

Barb from Naples, Florida says, I love the data -driven machines, tracking my progress and always keeping me where I need to be. I’ve got a couple more here. James from Appleton, Wisconsin. He says, unbelievable technology, great staff, incredible results. You have to give it a try. And Brooke from Kansas, who is actually a medical doctor, she says, I absolutely love the coaches and the efficiency of the workout.

The machines at the exercise coach are incredible. I’m able to achieve my desired workout results in a much shorter amount of time than working out with regular free weights or machines. The exercise coach machines completely optimize your workout and time.

Wow. That is super encouraging. Always encouraging to hear about how we’re actually making a difference in people’s lives through exerbotics and the exercise coach. And I think that’s a great idea, Amy, just to share with our listeners that people really like this stuff and we’re going to, we’re going to be explaining how things work a little bit, but at the end of the day, it’s just a program and technology that people, uh, thoroughly enjoy getting to just come and use in a very time efficient manner. So thanks for always having that type of stuff prepared at just the right spot in the podcast.

And now I would like to share just three features of Exerbotics that really are three of the key features that lead to the optimization of exercise, getting people the results that they want safely, as efficiently as possible.

So here they are.

Ready? Number one is something called accommodating resistance. Number two is real -time biofeedback. And number three is what we call data -driven progression. So we’re going to talk about all three of those. These are the features that Excerbotics uses to optimize exercise.

But first, accommodating resistance. Let’s talk about the accommodating resistance uniquely provided by exerbotics. And this is actually a scientific term. And there are basically three possible modes of resistance training. So guys, we’re going to give you a little bit of science today. I think it’ll be worth learning about.

So there’s three types of resistance training, really, or modes of resistance training. They’re known as isotonic, isometric, or like I said, accommodating resistance. Now, Amy, I think you probably know what each of these terms means. Do you want to take a shot at trying to explain them to our listeners?

I thought you could give it a try. Sure, I will do my best.

Okay, so first, isotonic exercise means we’re using the same load or resistance the whole time, but our speed can vary.

That’s right. An example would be lifting a dumbbell or using a conventional weight training machine.

Now how about isometric? That word means same length.

So it’s an exercise that involves contracting our muscles against an immovable resistance, right?

You got it. Two for two. Isometrics would be like pushing against a wall to load our muscles to try to stimulate and fatigue them. And now how about this one might be a little bit tougher.

How about accommodating resistance? All right, so I’m going to say accommodating resistance is like the opposite of isotonic resistance.

Instead of letting clients lift and lower an unchanging weight with speed that can vary, Axorbotics software controls the speed of the movement so that the muscle loading can adjust in real time through the given exercise. That’s right. Accommodating resistance is also called isokinetic resistance, and it means we keep, just like you said, the speed the same. And the technology does this so that what can vary is the loading that the exerciser experiences. Accommodating resistance keeps the speed the same in order to accommodate the exerciser’s strength abilities, even as they fluctuate during an exercise. You did a great job, Amy.

So here’s the thing. An individual’s strength isn’t static.

Like I said, we’re accommodating their strength as it changes throughout in fact, your strength var a lot throughout any giv performed. Yes. So that i but I find that can be h Do you think you can do t

some of the science of muscular biomechanics accessible for people? I can try. I like to focus on, to do this, three main ways that strength varies during an exercise, during a movement. There might be a couple more, but these are the ones that I think are the most important to talk about. So let’s just take a look at these one at a time, the ways your strength or the reasons your strength varies during an exercise. So first, your strength changes throughout any movement as the angles of your joints change.

So, for example, if I gave you a heavy object and asked you to hold it with your arms extended completely straight, like holding a box over your head with your arms straight, that would be way easier than if I gave you that same box and I said, here, hold this with your arms straight, but with your arms straight out in front of your face.

That would be a heck of a lot harder, right?

Oh yes, that’s for sure. This is due to different degrees of leverage that you have. The muscle mechanics are simply different at different joint angles. Now this creates a problem with conventional isotonic resistance sources like dumbbells or regular conventional machines. And it’s called a sticking point. So with conventional resistance, we have to choose a resistance that an exerciser can lift through their weakest point for the prescribed number of reps. So think of another example, like a bench press.

Where is it that you’re the weakest?

Where’s your sticking point on a bench press, Amy?

So for sure, it’s definitely at the start of the movement when your arms are bent and the bar is close to your sternum, right? That is right.

But

know what? We’re all way stronger at different points in the movement, but the strength we have remains unchallenged because of this sticking point and how it limits us.

Meaning the exercise designed around the sticking point.

Yes, but that doesn’t exist with exerbotics, right? Exactly. Exerbotics accommodating resistance matches the challenge of every repetition with a person’s exact strength, even as their joint angles change and their strength varies.

And so why this matters is this makes it much easier to deeply fatigue someone’s muscles in less time than it normally takes. And that’s also what makes the work harder, yet in a way easier with exerbotics.

It’s hard enough to make a difference, but anyone can handle it. I couldn’t have said it any better myself. And there’s another thing exerbotics does that conventional resistance training doesn’t. And so this is the second way our strength varies during exercise and how exerbotics accommodates that through accommodating resistance. Exerbotics delivers what could be called effective eccentric muscle loading as a part of every exercise set that someone does. Now, eccentric exercise, Amy, so you did so well on the last three, why don’t we try this one as well?

What is eccentric muscle loading? Let me see if I can explain this.

So the eccentric part of a resistance exercise is where your muscles are lengthening versus what is called concentric work when your muscles are shortening. That’s right. And Maybe to make it. even easier for people, you can think of it like this. Normally, the concentric muscle action would occur when you are lifting a weight. Think of a bicep curl, everybody.

When you do a bicep curl and you bend your elbow to lift that bar or dumbbell and lift the weight, that’s the concentric work.

Then when you lower the weight, you do so by allowing the resistance to overcome your muscle and lengthen your muscle.

And that’s your eccentric part of the movement. Exactly. It is. I suppose it is technically. However, I think this is important. In addition to your strength changing at various joint angles, your strength is actually a lot different between this concentric work and eccentric work. So we end up with another mechanical problem on our hands if we’re using a conventional resistance.

So you’re always at least 40 % stronger eccentrically, or lowering the weight, or when your muscles are lengthening, all kind of saying the same thing. You’re always at least 40 % stronger eccentrically than you are concentrically. So your muscles don’t get to do what they could actually do eccentrically with conventional resistance, because you only get to lower weights that you could lift to begin with. And this means with conventional weight training, people can miss out on the powerful benefits that might even be particular to eccentric training. Like for example, some Australian researchers who studied the effects of concentric and eccentric training concluded this. They said that for optimal development of muscle strength and size, programs should include

concentric and eccentric training. And there’s actually a huge amount of research that’s been done on eccentric training.

And a massive number of studies have been done in labs around the world that actually feature accommodating resistance. Yeah. So what we are doing with exerbotics at the exercise coach is not based on preference or opinion.

There is science that backs this up. Maybe we could spend a whole episode sometime on that research, Brian. We will definitely do that. That is going to be a lot of fun, but today we better keep moving.

And so there’s one more way we need to talk about strength varying during a resistance training exercise. Any idea what it is?

I do think I know what you’re going to say.

I think it’s going to be that our strength varies as our muscles fatigue, right? That’s it. We start out fresh and strong on every exercise that we do. And as we work, if it’s with a meaningful muscular load, as we work, our muscles fatigue. And once again, a conventional resistance doesn’t accommodate this change in strength.

So it limits how efficiently we can deeply fatigue our muscles. And that means maximum results are just harder to get from conventional weight training for a lot of people.

So exerbotics accommodates all of these biomechanical factors to make strength training more effective.

Does this make things safer too? Sure. I think it does. And with exerbotics, we use very controlled movements through ranges of motion that are established as safe and pain -free for each client. And xRobotics software records these parameters so that they’re used with precision each workout.

And I think the safety of xRobotics is really supported by the millions of exercise sets clients have safely performed at the exercise coach. And we’re talking about clients who run the gamut of fitness abilities.

We work with everyone from athletes to people in their 80s, who’ve in some cases gotten pretty deconditioned. or have a variety of physical limitations and everybody in between people with arthritis or back problems or joint replacements, all kinds of considerations. That’s pretty cool. So we have covered pretty in depth.

The first exerbotics feature that optimizes exercise. What were the other two? That’s right. So these two I’ll mention briefly, we really just went pretty thoroughly through accommodating resistance and the features of exerbotics that enable accommodating resistance or that make accommodating resistance really important.

A little more quickly, we’ll talk about real time feedback.

So real time feedback. So. Back to just a little bit about accommodating resistance. I just want to point something out. This is what’s called a user -generated load. So it means rather than us like throwing an external load at the exerciser, like here’s a weight, work with that.

Exerbotics actually controls the machine resistance of every exercise movement at a constant speed. And it does this so the user can generate muscle loading through effort that is optimized by digital visual guidance or real time feedback. It does this to provide accommodating resistance, but it also gives us the opportunity to fuel our clients’ efforts with real -time feedback.

And this biofeedback is based on the exerciser’s ability and accommodates the way strength changes during any given exercise. So it’s really smart and effective feedback. It is really smart. I have to say that when I first tried exerbotics, I I think that’s really what grabbed my attention was the digital biofeedback.

You just see right in front of you exactly what you need to do in terms of your effort, and it makes it easy just to dig deeper than you thought you could in order to work the muscle groups that you’re trying to work. And for a visual person like me, seeing the graphics there, It’s almost like playing a game and it’s really helpful and super motivating. Exactly. It is. And I agree. The real -time feedback is really a game changer for motivating effort and getting people results.

And we saw this immediately when we started using Excerbotics with clients years ago. Clients that had a harder time achieving a high intensity of effort were suddenly working harder than ever before. yet handling it well and even enjoying it. And so what a game changer that was.

And this phenomenon is actually something that’s been validated in numerous research studies.

When athletes are provided with digital feedback that quantifies their effort, according to research, it increases their motivation, their competitiveness, their mood, and their performance. For sure.

Wow, that is so cool for athletes. So what does that mean for the average person, though, who might not be as motivated or excited about working out as an athlete? That’s exactly the point, Amy, of digital feedback literally makes athletes What will it do for the average person? And we know the answer. It makes strength training so effective that they can get maximum results with a minimal time commitment.

And now just to wrap up on the features of exerbotics that really optimize strength training, Let’s move on to data -driven progression. And this means we use the data from every workout to ensure that we safely apply progressively more challenging work to keep up with our clients’ increasing strength levels over time. And this is really a requirement for continual improvement and for maximum results and for proof of progress. Now we’re going to actually move on to the big second part of what makes these workouts the smartest workouts in the world. And it’s actually the coaches. And so Amy, you’ve recently opened multiple franchise locations of the Exercise Coach.

Leading and developing coaches is something that I bet is fresh on your mind.

So could I just ask you a few questions about the difference that certified exercise coaches make for our clients across the country?

Yes, absolutely. Great.

So let’s just start with this.

What are the high level benefits of a certified exercise coach to your clients? Sure. So there’s a few that I can think of right off the bat. And when clients engage with the exercise coach, they’re coming in for a wonderful workout. That’s data driven. That’s appropriate for their skill level and their ability level.

But they’re meeting with these coaches who are providing some key things during the client experience. One of those is motivation. A lot of people come in and they say that they lack the internal motivation to continue on a healthy diet. like exercise, but knowing they’re going to meet with that coach motivates them to continue going. Even when they don’t feel that self -motivation, they can borrow from that coach’s enthusiasm and be motivated by the coach to get through their workout and to achieve more than they would have otherwise. Another one is accountability coaches provide accountability one in a few different ways.

One simple way is that workouts are scheduled. So clients schedule workouts, they know who their coach will be, and that they know that coach is waiting for them that day at that time for a workout. That accountability truly is what helps clients succeed and keep up with the healthy habit that they try to start is knowing that they’re going to be held accountable for their coach, A for showing up and B for putting in a good effort that day. A couple others I want to mention, confidence and encouragement. So again, Clients don’t always, when you go in for a workout, certain days you feel great, you feel energetic, you feel like you can take on the world, and other days you don’t, right? You feel tired, maybe your nutrition isn’t on point, maybe you didn’t sleep too well, and so you don’t feel like you can really perform at your best.

Your coach is there to inspire you to give your best that you have that day, no matter what. We always say that showing up and giving your all is all we ask. And so our coaches provide the confidence that clients need to, to perform the exercise optimally to get those benefits that maybe they wouldn’t achieve on their own. If that coach wasn’t there. Encouragement. Our coaches are constantly encouraging.

They truly care about our clients, both emotionally and physically.

constantly checking in to see how clients are doing, how their lives are going, and to be an uplifting encourager to that client.

so that that client leaves our studio feeling better than they did when they first got in. That’s a great summary.

Go ahead.

If you’ve got more. Yeah. I mean, one other bullet here is, is advocacy and education. You know, our coaches are passionate about inspiring clients onward in their journey on health and fitness. And. Our coaches know the powerful benefits of strength training.

They understand why the exercise coach approach changes lives and how strength really does change everything for people’s health and longevity. And so they are passionate about education and sometimes re -education, honestly, dispelling myths that people may have believed for years about health and fitness to encourage clients on the right path to just enjoy strength and good health for a lifetime. Wow. That’s a great summary of the benefits of working with a coach at The Exercise, Coach Amy. And you touched on some stuff that’ll overlap with what I want to ask next, but let me just ask it a little differently so that maybe people can get a feel for what our coaches are like and what they’re focused on and what we’re focused on. Could you just share maybe what are you aiming for?

in your hiring and development processes?

What are you looking for and what are you trying to lead people to get better at? Absolutely. So I’ve got five characteristics that are really standout characteristics of an effective exercise coach as far as we’re concerned. And These aren’t really requirements that I came up with. We learned these from our franchise support team. So here they are five things.

One is commitment. We want coaches to personally use exerbotics, use the exercise coach training workouts themselves.

Doing the workout themselves and receiving the training themselves really helps our coaches to believe in, feel, and understand on a deep level the difference we make at the exercise coach. And it deepens their passion to share that with people.

And that’s important to clients, right? They ask, do you do this? They ask all the time. Yes, absolutely. And our coaches love to be able to speak firsthand about how an exercise feels, what it should be feeling like, what muscles should be being worked there, all of that. Another one is empathy.

Empathy is a skill, an interpersonal skill that allows somebody to pick up on the social and emotional cues of somebody else to understand where somebody’s at. And so if a coach sees a client walk through the door, we want that coach to anticipate the needs of that client, to understand where that person is at that day so that they as a coach can meet them where they are at.

We talked about that in another episode where we meet people where they’re at. So we want coaches to be able to empathize with people, to connect with them on a sincere level and understand the clients that they’re working with deeply so that they can best serve them.

Okay, so commitment and empathy. What else do you have? Energy is another one.

Coaches need to bring an energy to their training sessions that will fill that exercise session up with energy, with motivation.

So we look for coaches that can bring energy and positivity to every training session.

That has like a ripple effect when they show up and they’re confident, energetic, enthusiastic, even if their clients Having a down day when you walk in, that’s something that they can borrow from and they can really pick them up. Certainly.

And you can even capture that over the phone.

When I talk to my coaches on the phone, I actually leave the conversations more energized and in a better mood because of their wonderful energy. I might need to talk to your coaches on Sundays. I know, that’s right. Two more to share. Professionalism. Professionalism in a coach is very important to us.

We are so proud of what we do with the exercise coach. We are the cutting edge facility to deliver amazing life -changing results to people. And so we hire professional coaches. Professionalism just to me means that coaches are respectful. They show up on time. They do what they say they’re going to do.

They’re kind. They take their job seriously. And the last one I would say is just instructional skill.

So we want our coaches to be really dialed in to the proper use of exerbotics, to deliver that client experience that we’re looking for, to understand how to use all of the features exerbotics provides to deliver the best experience for where our clients are at in their ability levels and in their strength levels and in the outcomes that they’re looking for.

And so we teach our coaches how to design and customize exercise programs tailored to deliver the results that our clients are looking for.

That’s great. And they’re all certified exercise coaches, they go through a pretty robust proprietary certification program to be able to apply the use of exerbotics and become really good, I think, at one thing mainly, and that’s helping people get the results that matter most to them with no more than two 20 -minute workouts per week.

I would love to share some feedback then that I have collected from real clients as far as what they have to say about their coaches.

Is it okay if I share a few things that clients have said? That’d be great. So clients share about their coaches. When we ask them, what do you think they say? Coaches have created custom made plans to accommodate my goals. They are courteous.

They are friendly. They are knowledgeable. They are positive. They’ve helped me become stronger. They are friendly. They are dialed into me.

They understand me. They help me with my nutrition. They provide great variety and motivation to me. I look forward to seeing them each and every workout.

I feel like they celebrate my success and my advances. They are positive and they are encouraging. That’s awesome. That’s great.

Thanks for sharing those, Amy. So what do you think people listening should do next? So we hope that you’ve enjoyed these first five episodes of the Strength Changes Everything podcast. If you’re just joining us for the first time today, we would love for you to subscribe to this podcast. Subscribing will help you receive notifications of new episodes when they come out. We would also encourage you to go back and listen to the first four if you haven’t in this podcast season.

During these first five episodes, Brian and I have really tried to lay a framework and a groundwork to understand everything that this podcast is about and what the exercise coach offers and how we do it. The science that it’s based on, what motivates everything we do. So if you’re just joining us today, please go back and listen to those first four episodes.

We would love for you to try an exercise coach workout.

If you’ve never done it before, visit exercisecoach . com. You can sign up there for two free sessions at an exercise coach near you. So you can experience for yourself how strength changes everything.

Brian, we’ll see our listeners next week.

Until then, have a great day, everyone. Yep.

Bye everybody. Enjoy strength.
